Animal Science
The University of Mount Olive is a private, faith-based liberal arts institution and the only
private university in North Carolina offering multiple degrees in agriculture and biological sciences. The University has approximately 800
traditional undergraduate students, and the School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences has approximately 300 attendees seeking
undergraduate degrees in agricultural and biological fields of study. The campus is located in eastern North Carolina, about one hour east
of Raleigh and one hour west of Wilmington, on the Atlantic coast. The University is located in Wayne County and is at the heart of the
state’s agricultural industry.
The School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences is seeking applicants for a full-time (12-month)
Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor faculty position beginning January or August, 2025. The candidate sought should have
qualifications enabling them to teach in animal science, veterinary bioscience, agriculture, and other related areas as qualified. The
School focuses on applied learning experiences for students and supports the delivery of hands-on experiential learning.
The
successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate classes and labs delivered in a seated format. Teaching responsibilities
will include preparation and teaching of lower and upper-level undergraduate courses. Demonstrated success as an instructor and applying
innovative and hands-on teaching techniques is preferred. In addition, experience and certifications that allow applying principles and
theories related to the field of study are also desired. Candidates will have the use of and be involved in the direction of production
practices and management of the current animal unit at the Kornegay Student Farm and eventually at our new animal science facility, which
will be located at the Shady Grove Farm. This involvement will occur throughout the calendar year.
The successful candidate will be
expected to contribute to the undergraduate mission of the School and University. The candidate would also participate in School activities,
collegiate club activities, student farm development, and other facility enhancement projects.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or DVM in Animal Science or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with a Master of Animal Science or related fields
and 18 graduate hours in the field of study in the teaching discipline or comparable industry/work experience or a combination of both will
be considered.
